The Cambodian Association of Illinois is a member of Pan-Asian Voter Empowerment (PAVE) Coalition coordinated by the Asian American Advancing Justice-Chicago. Through our PAVE membership we advocate the Cambodian community’s voice by participating in the annual Asian American Action Day in Springfield, the Asian American Legislative Caucus in the Illinois General Assembly, the GOTV campaigns.

In 2019-2020 our priority areas are Census 2020, GOTV and the language access.

Census 2020

A complete Census count ensures that the Cambodian community receives the resources and representation that we deserve. Historically, Asian American and Pacific Islanders are among those most likely to be undercounted. In the 2020 decennial Census, in collaboration with the Asian American Advancing Justice-Chicago, we will work with community and youth leaders to conduct outreach, workshops, and face-to-face meetings to educate our community so that every member of the Cambodian community in Illinois will be counted.
